Choose the right chart for your data
From a quick comparison to a business report, start with the question your chart needs to answer.
Column and line charts
Use columns to compare sales, responses or budgets across categories. Use a line chart to show changes over time. Put labels in the first column and up to four numeric series in the next columns.
Doughnut chart maker
Show how a total is divided, such as a budget or a set of survey answers. Use a label and one non-negative value per row. A few slices are easier to compare than a long list.
Waterfall chart maker
Explain how revenue becomes profit or why a budget changed. Enter positive increases and negative decreases in order. The tool starts at zero and adds the final total automatically, including when the running balance becomes negative. Do not add a total row yourself.
Pareto chart maker
Find the issues with the biggest impact. Enter categories and non-negative counts or costs. The chart sorts bars from largest to smallest and adds a cumulative percentage line. The dashed 80% line helps you see which categories account for most of the total.
Funnel chart maker
Show how many people or items move through a process. Enter stages in their original order with values that stay the same or decrease, such as visits, sign-ups, trials and customers.
Heatmaps and scatter plots
Use a heatmap for a numeric matrix: labels down the first column and headings across the top. Use a scatter plot to compare two numeric variables, with a point label, an X value and a Y value in each row.

Are these charts interactive?
Yes. Hover or tap the chart to inspect values, and explore your data. Download Interactive HTML to keep those interactions in a file that works offline. PNG and SVG downloads are static images.
Is this online chart maker really free?
Yes. All chart types, styling options and PNG, SVG and interactive HTML downloads on this page are free. No account, payment or watermark. Chartmeister is our separate Excel add-in with a free tier and optional paid licenses.
Can I make a chart from Excel data?
Yes. Copy a rectangular range including column headings, choose Paste data, paste your cells and click Use this data. You can also import CSV or TSV files. This tool accepts up to 120 rows and four value columns. To work directly with worksheet ranges, try Chartmeister for Excel.
Should I download PNG, SVG or HTML?
PNG is a high-resolution image for slides, documents and messages. SVG is a vector image that stays sharp when resized. HTML keeps hover and tap tooltips, includes a data table, and opens offline in a browser. Anyone you send an HTML file to can see the data it contains.
Can I put several charts in one dashboard?
Yes. Use our free Dashboard Maker to arrange up to four charts, choose interactive or hand-drawn styling, and download the dashboard as HTML, PNG or SVG.
Does my data get uploaded or saved?
The chart maker processes your values in this browser tab. It does not upload chart data or save it to browser storage. Your work is lost when you close or reload the tab, so download your chart and save a CSV first. The website still uses its normal services; see our privacy policy.
Why does the tool ask me to change my data?
Each chart needs a specific layout. Doughnut, waterfall, Pareto and funnel charts use one label column and one value column. Scatter uses a label plus X and Y. Use plain numbers such as 1250.50 or -25, without thousands separators or currency symbols. Missing values are flagged so they do not silently become zero.
What does Chartmeister add?
