These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your installation and use of the Chartmeister add-in for Microsoft Excel ("the Add-in"), published by Bosau Digital LLC and made by Sven Bosau, operating Python & VBA at pythonandvba.com ("we", "us", or "our"). They supplement our general Terms and Conditions; where the two differ in relation to the Add-in, these Terms apply. By installing or using the Add-in, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not install or use the Add-in.

1. The Add-in

The Add-in builds interactive charts and dashboards from your Excel data, live in the task pane: bar, line, pie, combo, waterfall, funnel, pareto, tornado, scatter, heatmap, treemap, box plot, candlestick, pictorial, KPI, radar, gauge, and table visuals. Charts can be inserted into the worksheet as pictures, exported as interactive HTML files, PNG images, or multi-tab dashboard pages, and shared via links. All chart building happens locally inside Excel; your worksheet data never leaves Excel. The Add-in works in Excel on Windows, Mac, and the web (Microsoft 365 or Office 2021 and later).

2. Free Trial, Free Mode, and License

The Add-in is free to install from Microsoft AppSource. Every installation includes a 7-day free trial of the full product, starting at first use, with no registration and no payment details required. When the trial ends, the Add-in switches to free mode: bar, line and pie charts remain fully usable, and exported charts, images, and dashboards carry a small "Made with Chartmeister" watermark. Entering a valid Chartmeister license key, purchased from pythonandvba.com, unlocks all chart types and removes the watermark permanently.

3. License

Upon a valid purchase, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the licensed features on the number of installations permitted by your license (the activation limit shown at the time of purchase and in the product documentation), subject to these Terms. The license is personal to you and may not be transferred, sublicensed, resold, or assigned to any other individual or entity.

The license is verified online. If our license server cannot be reached, the licensed features continue to work for a short offline grace period and then re-verify once you are back online.

4. Charts Are Presentation, Not Advice

The Add-in visualizes the data you give it. Chart output (including computed elements such as waterfall running totals, box-plot quartiles, and heatmap scales) is generated with general-purpose rules and depends entirely on the data you bind. It does not constitute financial, accounting, legal, or other professional advice, and you remain responsible for verifying that your charts present your data correctly before relying on them or sharing them.

5. Your Data, Exports, and Share Links

Exported files and share links contain the charted data by design. A share link encodes the chart and its values in the link itself; anyone who has the link can view the chart. You are responsible for deciding what data you export or share and with whom. Inserted chart pictures store their settings and the source-range address inside your workbook so they can be reopened for editing; these travel with your workbook like any other content. We are not liable for disclosures resulting from files or links you distribute.

6. Prohibited Uses

You may not:

• Share, distribute, resell, or redistribute the Add-in or your license key to third parties
• Allow others to use the licensed features under your license
• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Add-in
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the Add-in
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with the license validation, the trial mechanism, the watermark, or any security feature of the Add-in
• Use the Add-in for any unlawful purpose
• Use the Add-in in a manner that violates any applicable laws or the terms of service of any third-party platform it relies on (including Microsoft)

7. Third-Party Services and Platforms

The Add-in runs inside Microsoft Excel / Microsoft 365 and its use is subject to Microsoft's applicable terms. We are not responsible for the availability or behavior of the Microsoft platform.

The Add-in is distributed through Microsoft AppSource and is subject to Microsoft's applicable marketplace terms. These Terms are the license terms that govern the Add-in and, to the extent permitted, apply in place of any default store license terms. The bundled chart engine (Apache ECharts) and compression library (lz-string) are open-source components used under their respective licenses (Apache-2.0 and MIT).

9. Intellectual Property

The Add-in and all related content and materials are the intellectual property of Bosau Digital LLC. Purchasing a license does not transfer any ownership or intellectual property rights to you. You may not use our name, logo, or branding without prior written consent. Charts you create from your own data are, of course, yours.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Add-in is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Add-in will be error-free, uninterrupted, accurate, or compatible with every system configuration.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Bosau Digital LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages (including loss of data, loss of profits, business interruption, or damages arising from charts, exports, or share links you create and distribute) arising from your use of or inability to use the Add-in, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability arising from any matter related to these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Chartmeister license.

12. Termination

This license terminates automatically if you breach these Terms. On termination, you must stop using the Add-in and remove it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Add-in after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

The Add-in is operated by Bosau Digital LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of New Mexico, United States. These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be sought to be resolved through good-faith negotiation in the first instance.
