If you installed XLSnake and the buttons on the ribbon appear but nothing happens when you click them, macros are most likely disabled in your Excel settings.
XLSnake relies on macros to function. Without them enabled, the buttons will show up but won’t do anything.
Follow the steps below for your operating system to fix this.
Windows
- Open Excel and go to File > Options.
- Click Trust Center in the left sidebar.
- Click Trust Center Settings.
- Select Macro Settings from the left sidebar.
- Choose Enable all macros.
- Click OK to close both dialogs.
- Restart Excel.
Still not working?
If macros are enabled but the buttons still do nothing, you may need to add the add-in’s file location as a Trusted Location:
- Open Excel and go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings.
- Select Trusted Locations from the left sidebar.
- Click Add new location.
- Browse to the folder where the XLSnake add-in file is stored and select it.
- Click OK to close all dialogs.
- Restart Excel.
macOS
- Open Excel and go to Excel > Preferences (or press ⌘ + ,).
- Click Security & Privacy.
- Under Macro Security, select Enable all macros.
- Close the Preferences window.
- Restart Excel.
