Check the message inside the preview. It identifies the problem and, when available, the worksheet cell to fix.
- Empty selection: select a cell inside your data block or select the whole rectangle, then press Use selection.
- Blank or nonnumeric values: fill the cells, remove extra heading rows or select a complete numeric block. Line charts offer Gaps and Skip under Selection options. Excel errors still need fixing.
- Wrong headers or labels: review Selection options and transpose only if your data runs across rows.
- Chart limits: check the row, series and value requirements in Connect your data.
- Missing source: reopen the picture from My inserted charts, select replacement cells, choose Reconnect data, then Update this picture.
- Protected or grouped pictures: unprotect the destination sheet and ungroup chart pictures before updating them.
