Frequently asked questions

Where is Twilio Blaster, the Excel version?

TextBay replaced it, and it is no longer sold. Twilio Blaster was the same idea inside a spreadsheet: your own Twilio account, your own numbers, sent from Excel. TextBay does that as a proper Windows app and adds what a spreadsheet never did well: replies come back into an inbox you answer from, contacts live in lists you reuse, opt-outs are handled for you, and every message shows its delivery status in plain English. Setup is two values pasted once, with no macros and no Excel version to worry about.

If you already bought Twilio Blaster it keeps working, and its documentation stays online. One thing to know before you switch: TextBay is Windows only, so it will not run on a Mac the way the Excel template did, although it does work in a Windows virtual machine.

Do I need a Twilio account?

Yes. Twilio provides the number and carries the messages; TextBay is the app you use on top. Creating a Twilio account takes about five minutes, and the getting started guide shows every click.

Is it really a one-time payment?

Yes. $129 once, yours forever, updates included. The only ongoing cost is what Twilio charges for the messages themselves.

What does sending actually cost?

Twilio bills your phone number and message traffic separately. Rates depend on the destination, sender and message type. TextBay shows you the estimated cost before every send.

What is this 10DLC registration about?

US phone companies want bulk senders to register once, so they can block spammers. You do it in the Twilio console; it takes a few days. TextBay shows your status in plain words, and the documentation walks you through it. Texting outside the US? It does not apply to you.

How does the WhatsApp part work?

Through Twilio's official WhatsApp Business channel. You register a WhatsApp sender once, and TextBay handles the rest, including WhatsApp's rules about templates. Want to send from your personal WhatsApp instead? That is what SendCommander is for.

I am on a Twilio trial. Does it work?

Yes. Twilio trials can only text numbers you have verified with Twilio, and they add a trial note to each message. Good for testing on your own phone; upgrade the Twilio account when you go real.

What about opt-outs and spam rules?

Message people who agreed to hear from you, and TextBay handles the rest: STOP replies block that person automatically, and one click adds the "Reply STOP to opt out." line to your message. The opt-out guide has the details.

Where does my data live?

On your own PC, in one folder. Messages go straight from your PC to Twilio; we never see them. The only thing that ever reaches us is the license check. Details in the privacy policy.

Does it work on a Mac?

No. TextBay needs Windows 10 or 11. It does run inside a Windows virtual machine on a Mac (Parallels, VMware Fusion, UTM).

What if I get stuck?

There is a contact form right inside the app, and the documentation covers everything step by step. I reply myself, usually within a business day.
