Getting started

Follow these steps to install the CutePlots add-in.
Note: The video shows the installation process for the Grafly add-in, but the steps are exactly the same for CutePlots.

Install the classic Excel add-in #

1. Extract the downloaded ZIP and keep the .xlam file in a permanent folder.
2. On Windows, close Excel, right-click the downloaded add-in, and choose Properties. If Unblock is present, select it and click Apply.
3. In Excel for Windows, open File > Options > Add-ins, choose Excel Add-ins beside Manage, then click Go. On macOS, open Tools > Excel Add-ins.
4. Click Browse, select the extracted .xlam file, and make sure its checkbox is selected. The product tab should appear in Excel’s ribbon.

Create your first chart #

1. Open CutePlots > Chart Builder.
2. Use the sample-data link in the chart window for a first test, or prepare a small table with category labels and numeric values.
3. Choose a chart type and select the label and data ranges in the chart window. Use continuous ranges and include the required series headings.
4. Generate the chart and open the HTML result in your browser. Keep an internet connection available: this classic version uses the chart service and its output loads a chart library.
