This guide takes you from installing AI Fuzzy Match to your first matched list. It takes about five minutes.
1. Install the add-in #
- In Excel on Windows, Mac or the web, go to Home > Add-ins > More Add-ins and open the Store tab. Search for AI Fuzzy Match (by Bosau Digital) and click Add. Some Excel versions use Insert > Get Add-ins instead.
- Click the AI Fuzzy Match button on the Home tab to open the task pane.
2. Try the sample #
The first screen says: “Match two lists by meaning, not just spelling. Insert the sample to see it work, or select your first list.”
- Click Insert sample. You get a new sheet with a month of bank transactions and a vendor list. The add-in sets List A (the bank lines) and List B (the vendor list) for you.
- Click Check credits and run. The pane shows how many rows need the AI and what that costs. Click Run to start.
- The results appear in new columns next to List A (the default): Match, Confidence, Status and the copied Vendor ID (matched).
The menu (top left) > Insert sample data has two samples: Bank lines vs vendor list (the one above) and Supplier list vs SAP vendor master. Each one sets List A and List B for you.
3. Match your own lists #
With your own lists, click a cell in the records you want to match and click Use selection as List A. Then click a cell in the reference list and click Use selection as List B. One cell is enough: the add-in takes the whole block around it. Tick the columns to compare, usually just the name. Match two lists walks through every step, and Choose the columns to compare explains which columns to pick.
4. Check the credits before you run #
Before every run, the pane shows what it will cost, for example:
“2,870 rows need AI · 330 exact matches are free · uses 2,870 credits · you have 4,900”
Your first 100 credits are free. When you need more, buy a credit pack, then open the menu (top left), go to Credits and keys and paste the key from your purchase email under Add a key. Credits and packs has the details.
5. Review the results #
Rows the AI is less sure about get the status Review and, by default, a light yellow fill. Look at those first. Review results and set the threshold explains how.
Having trouble? #
The pane explains every problem in plain language, and the docs cover the common ones. If you are stuck, contact support.
