Install Ollama on Windows or macOS

XLlama uses Ollama to run a local AI model. Install Ollama first, then download a model before testing XLlama.

Get the installer from the official Ollama website. Check its current system requirements for your computer.

Windows #

Download and run the Windows installer.
Complete the installation and leave Ollama running in the background.
Open a new terminal and run ollama --version to check that the command is available.

macOS #

Download Ollama for macOS and move the app into Applications.
Open Ollama and complete its setup. Allow it to install its command-line tool if prompted.
Open Terminal and run ollama --version.

Follow Install more Ollama models, then choose the model in XLlama settings. Installing the Ollama app alone does not make a downloaded model available.
