Chat Merge opens one chat at a time and you press Send each time. If you want messages sent for you, Excel on Windows can hand your list to SendCommander, a separate Windows app from the same publisher. Everything else in Chat Merge works without it.
What you need #
- Excel on Windows (the desktop app). The hand-off is not shown in Excel on the web or on Mac.
- SendCommander installed. It is a separate, paid app, available from the Microsoft Store.
Hand your list over #
- Load your contacts, choose the phone column and write the message as usual.
- Expand the Send many at once with SendCommander card at the bottom of the pane (it starts collapsed), then click Open in SendCommander. The card appears on Windows only, once your contacts are loaded.
- If Excel asks "An add-in is trying to open this application", choose Open. See Excel asks to open an application.
- SendCommander opens and shows your contacts and message for review.
- Check them there. Nothing is sent until you confirm in SendCommander.
What Chat Merge does when you click #
- It copies your contacts and your message to the clipboard, and then opens SendCommander. This replaces whatever was on your clipboard.
- Rows with a number that cannot be used are left out. The pane tells you how many, for example 2 rows were left out because the number is not valid.
- Chat Merge itself sends nothing. The sending happens in SendCommander, after you confirm.
If SendCommander does not open #
The pane shows Didn’t open? with a Get SendCommander link. Check that SendCommander is installed, then click Open in SendCommander again. If copying fails, the pane asks you to click again.
