In your workbook and on your computer, and nowhere else. Table Compare reads your tables, compares them and writes the result inside Excel. Your data is never uploaded, and I have no access to it. Files you choose are read in the pane on your device and held in memory only until the pane is reloaded.
What goes over the network #
- Loading the add-in: the pane loads its code from addins.pythonandvba.com and Microsoft’s office.js. These requests carry no workbook data.
- The license check: sends your license key, an anonymous installation ID (a random value created on your device), the add-in version and a short platform name such as Excel for Windows. It runs only if you added a key: when the pane opens and when you add or remove a key. Without a key, no check is made.
- Nothing else: no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no automatic error reports. The diagnostic info in About is only copied when you click the button and only sent if you paste it into a message to support.
What is stored where #
- In the workbook: the saved setup (which tables, sheets or file names you chose, and your options), the ids of the highlights Table Compare added, and your last options keyed by column names. No cell values.
- On your device: your license key, the installation ID, the record of the last license check, your theme choice and your last options. Your license key is never written into the workbook.
What you create #
The report sheets, copied rows, a kept copy of a file and highlights are written into your workbook only when you click the button for them. They belong to the workbook like anything else in it, so they travel with the file when you share it.
