This guide takes you from installing Excel2JSON to your first JSON file. It takes about two minutes.
1. Install from the Microsoft Store #
Excel2JSON installs from the Microsoft Store in one click, and updates itself from there whenever a new version ships. Click Get on the Store page, and launch the app once Windows has installed it.
On first launch, read and accept the license agreement. You can then activate a license key or click Try free: every install includes 10 free conversions with all features unlocked.
2. Load your data #
Three ways, pick any:
- Drop a spreadsheet file onto the window (.xlsx, .xlsm, .xlsb, .xls, .ods, .csv, .tsv, .txt).
- Open file (Ctrl+O) and pick one.
- Paste data (Ctrl+V): copy cells in any spreadsheet app, even Google Sheets in the browser, and paste them straight in. No file needed.
3. Select and convert #
Your data appears in an Excel-style grid. Drag to select the range you need (or click Select all). The JSON preview on the right updates live. Pick a layout, toggle Nested objects if your headers use dots or brackets, then click Copy JSON (Ctrl+Enter) or Save….
4. Activate your license (optional) #
Bought a license? Open the app, click the trial badge (or the About dialog), choose Enter license key, and paste the key from your order confirmation email. Activation takes a second and needs an internet connection once.
