Entered your key but activation fails, or the app dropped back to the license screen? Work down this list.
“Invalid license key” #
- Check for typos: copy the key fresh from your order confirmation email, with no spaces before or after.
- Make sure you are activating Excel2JSON with an Excel2JSON key – keys from other PythonAndVBA products do not cross over.
“Device limit reached” #
A Single User license covers 3 devices. Retired a PC? Free its slot yourself in your account (open it from the app via About > Manage account & devices), then activate again.
“Could not reach the license server” #
- Check your internet connection; corporate networks sometimes need
api.pythonandvba.comallowed through the proxy or firewall. - If the server itself is briefly busy, waiting a minute and trying again is usually enough.
Already activated, worried about offline use? #
Relax: validation fails open. Once activated, the app stays licensed when you are offline or the server is unreachable; only an explicit “this key is invalid” verdict from the server deactivates it.
Still stuck? In the app open About > Copy diagnostic info and paste it into the support form together with your license key.
