A Deltaline chart lives in the workbook, so sharing it means sharing the file: email it, put it on a shared drive, or open it together in Excel on the web. Nothing extra has to be sent along.
Viewers never need a license #
Every chart renders and updates for anyone who opens the workbook. When a colleague changes a number in the chart’s data, the chart redraws for them too. Opening or viewing a workbook never contacts the license server, so readers use no license and no device slot.
A license (or the trial) is needed only to build or edit charts of the Pro types. If a colleague without a license clicks Edit on such a chart, they see “Editing this chart needs a Deltaline license.” The chart itself keeps working for them.
What colleagues see when they open the file #
- Colleagues who already use Deltaline see the charts drawn live, exactly as you left them.
- Colleagues who do not have it yet need the free Deltaline add-in. They add it from Microsoft Marketplace, which costs nothing for viewing, or their IT admin deploys it for them; see Deploy Deltaline in Microsoft 365. Once the add-in is available, the charts load and stay live.
- Until the add-in is available, for example in a company that blocks store add-ins, Excel shows an add-in message in the chart’s place instead of the chart. Make sure readers have the add-in, or send them an export (see below).
Which badge readers see #
- Charts built or last applied under a license show no badge, for every reader.
- Charts built in free mode show a small “Made with Deltaline” badge.
- Charts built during the trial show “Made with Deltaline trial” after the trial ends, until someone with a license opens the editor and clicks Apply.
For people without Excel #
Use the chart’s Export button:
- Download PNG saves a sharp image for slides, reports and email.
- Copy image puts the same image on the clipboard, ready to paste into PowerPoint or an email.
- Download HTML saves an interactive page that opens in any browser, even offline. Readers can point at the chart to see its values.
- Copy share link copies a link that carries the chart inside it. Whoever opens it sees the chart in their browser; nothing is uploaded.
An exported file or a share link contains the charted numbers, and a shared workbook contains all of its data and each chart’s settings. Send them only to people who should see those numbers.
