US and Canada toll-free numbers (+1 800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, 888) can send SMS and MMS, and they skip the whole 10DLC brand-and-campaign registration. Instead they need a one-time toll-free verification: you tell Twilio who you are and what you send, Twilio submits it, and approval is required before sending to US and Canadian recipients. Content and other messaging rules still apply.

- Good throughput for a small or mid-size sender, MMS included
- People can reply, so STOP handling and two-way conversations work normally
The catch #
Traffic to US and Canadian recipients from a Restricted or Pending toll-free number is blocked until verification is approved, commonly with error 30032. Submit verification and wait for approval before sending. See Twilio’s verification guidance. Toll-free also reads as a business number, not a local one; if local presence matters to your audience, a registered 10DLC number fits better.
