In your workbook and on your computer, and nowhere else. DatePop reads the cells you select, writes dates and calendars inside Excel, and keeps its settings on your device. Your data is never uploaded and I have no access to it. DatePop does not send anything to an AI service either.
What goes over the network #
- Loading the add-in: the pane loads its code from addins.pythonandvba.com and Microsoft’s office.js. These requests carry no workbook data.
- Holiday data: when you choose a holiday country, its data file is loaded from the same address as the pane. It is a static file and the request carries no workbook data; no holiday service is called.
- The license check: sends your license key, a random installation ID (created on your device), the add-in version and a short platform name such as Excel for Windows or Excel on the web. It runs only if you added a key: when the pane opens and when you add or release a key. Without a key, no check is made.
- Nothing else: no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no automatic error reports. The diagnostic info in About is only copied when you click the button and only sent if you paste it into a message to support.
What is stored where #
- On your device: your settings (language, first day of the week and so on), the installation ID and, if you added one, your license key. Your license key is never written into the workbook.
- In the workbook: the definitions of date fields and events calendars (names, ranges, rules and which column holds what), never cell values. Date fields also leave a workbook name and Excel data validation on their cells.
- In memory only: the snapshot behind Undo last date, kept in memory for up to 10 minutes and gone when the add-in closes.
What you create #
Dates, calendar sheets and events calendars are written into your workbook only when you click the button for them. They belong to the workbook like anything else in it, so they travel with the file when you share it.
The .ics export #
On Excel for the web the file is made in your browser and downloaded directly. On Windows and Mac DatePop opens a page in your default browser that carries the file text in the address after the # sign. Browsers never send that part to a server, and the page makes no network requests, so your events stay on your computer. Copy .ics text uses the clipboard only.
