No, QuickText does not support VoIP numbers like Google Voice, Grasshopper, or other internet-based phone services.
Why not? #
QuickText uses Android’s SIM-based SMS connection through KDE Connect. It does not connect to a VoIP provider’s app or API.
- They rely on internet infrastructure instead of a mobile carrier
- A VoIP number is not a SIM that KDE Connect can send SMS from.
- Check the policies of whichever messaging route you use; a physical SIM does not guarantee higher limits.
What to use instead #
Use an SMS-capable physical SIM or eSIM in your Android phone, with a plan that permits the messages you intend to send.
