Other means the AI looked at your categories and decided none of them fits the row. It is a deliberate answer: with Allow Other when nothing fits on, the add-in would rather say Other than force the row into the least bad category.
Common reasons #
- The row really fits none of your categories. Often the right answer. In the bank sample, ATM WITHDRAWAL 7TH ST gets Other because a cash withdrawal is not an expense account.
- A category is missing. When several Other rows have something in common, your list needs one more category. The pane points this out when many rows come back as Other: “{other} rows fit none of your categories. Look at them: a missing category is the usual reason.”
- The category name does not say enough. “Misc services” or an account number without a name gives the AI little to go on. A clearer name or a short description helps. See Write categories that work.
- The ticked column has too little text. A row that is only a reference number cannot be placed. Tick a column with more text, or add a second describing column.
What to do #
- Add the missing category, or a description to the category you expected, and run again with Redo all. Redo all answers every row again and uses credits again, so for a few rows it is often quicker to type the category by hand.
- If every row must get one of your categories, turn Allow Other when nothing fits off. The rows that fit badly then get the closest category, usually with a low confidence and the status Review.
An Other answer is still an answer, so it costs one credit like any other.
