No. LabelPop needs an internet connection. It is an Excel add-in that loads from the web each time the pane opens, so it cannot start without a connection.
Where the connection is needed #
- Opening the pane: the add-in’s code and the label fonts come from addins.pythonandvba.com, and Microsoft’s Office script from appsforoffice.microsoft.com. Without a connection the pane shows a red message such as Microsoft’s Office script could not be loaded, so the add-in cannot talk to Excel. Check your internet connection, then use Reload add-in in the menu (top left). See The add-in does not load.
- Fonts for the preview and the PDF: The label fonts could not be loaded. Check your internet connection, then try again.
- Create PDF outside Excel on the web (for example in Excel for Windows and Mac): the encrypted print job goes through api.pythonandvba.com. Without a connection the pane says LabelPop could not reach the print service. Check your internet connection, or use Label sheet in Excel.
- The license check, if you added a key. A key that was checked recently keeps working for up to 7 days without a connection.
What works afterwards #
A PDF you downloaded is an ordinary file. Open it and print it with no connection at all. On Excel for the web, the PDF is built in your browser, so the PDF step itself needs no print service, but the pane still needs its connection to open.
If you travel or print in a place without internet, create the PDF ahead of time and keep the file.
