Every email provider allows only so many emails a day from one account. If you go over, the provider stops your emails for the rest of the day, and Gmail may pause the account for a day. SheetCourier keeps count for you and stops before the limit.
The limit SheetCourier fills in #
When you add an email account, SheetCourier fills in a safe Daily limit a little below what the provider allows:
| Email account | Daily limit filled in | What the provider allows |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail | 450 | About 500 a day |
| Google Workspace (Gmail with your company’s domain) | 1,800 | About 2,000 a day |
| Outlook on this PC | 300 | Outlook.com about 300 a day; work accounts allow more |
| Microsoft 365 / Outlook.com, personal account (Outlook.com, Hotmail) | 300 | A few hundred a day |
| Microsoft 365 / Outlook.com, work or school account | 10,000 | 30 emails a minute and 10,000 recipients a day; your company may allow fewer to people outside it |
| Yahoo, AOL | 450 | About 500 a day |
| iCloud | 900 | About 1,000 a day |
| Fastmail | 1,000 | See your Fastmail plan |
| Zoho Mail | 250 | Depends on your Zoho plan |
| GMX, WEB.DE | 100 | Low limits on free accounts |
| Your own domain or another provider | 500 | Ask your provider or web host |
| Brevo, SMTP2GO, Amazon SES, Mailjet | 200 to 300 | Depends on your plan with the service |
You can change the limit on the Email accounts page: click Edit on the account and change Daily limit. SheetCourier never sends more than this from that account in 24 hours. Use 0 for no limit. The Daily limits section in Settings shows the limit of each account.
Providers change their limits, and new accounts often get lower ones. If your provider stops your emails before SheetCourier’s limit, lower the limit for that account.
When a mailing is bigger than what is left today #
Before sending, the Check step tells you, for example “This email account can send 120 more emails today. SheetCourier sends to the first 120 now; send again tomorrow to reach the other 30.” When you send, SheetCourier asks:
Today’s limit. This email account can send 120 more emails today. Send to the first 120 now and the other 30 tomorrow?
Click Send 120 now. The next day, open the mailing, click Send again, and in the Send step keep Only people who haven’t got it yet under Who should get it this time?: people who already got it are skipped, so only the rest get it.
When the whole list is bigger than one day’s limit, the Check step says how many days it takes instead, for example “This list has 4,912 people. Your Gmail account sends up to 450 emails a day, so sending to everyone takes about 11 days. SheetCourier sends 450 now; send again tomorrow and it continues with the rest.” See Send to a big list.
When the provider says the limit is reached #
If your provider stops the emails anyway, SheetCourier stops the mailing and the result says the provider’s daily limit was reached. The rest are saved. Send the mailing again tomorrow with Only people who haven’t got it yet; people who already got it are skipped.
Sending to more people #
For newsletters to hundreds or thousands of people every week, a normal mailbox is slow. Use a sending service with your own domain: Use a sending service for larger lists. For more than about 5,000 emails a day, use a newsletter service.
