When someone asks not to get your emails, or an address doesn’t exist, put them on your “Don’t email” list. That one list decides for every mailing: people on it never get an email from SheetCourier, whether they come from your contacts, an Excel file or a pasted list. See Use the “Don’t email” list.
SheetCourier has no unsubscribe web page and does not read your inbox. Unsubscribe requests and bounced emails reach your own mailbox, and you mark those people in SheetCourier.
Let people unsubscribe #
For newsletters and announcements, tick Add a line that lets people ask not to get these emails (good for newsletters) in step 2 of the mailing. Every email then ends with “Don’t want these emails? Reply with “unsubscribe” and you won’t get them again.” The requests arrive as replies in your own mailbox.
Mark people as unsubscribed #
- On the Contacts page, find the person (search by their address) and tick them. You can tick several.
- Click Mark as unsubscribed. SheetCourier asks “Mark 3 people as unsubscribed?” and says “These people will never get an email from SheetCourier, from any mailing.”
- Confirm with Mark 3 as unsubscribed (with your number).
You can also open one person and click Mark as unsubscribed there. Their addresses go on the “Don’t email” list, and the contacts show the badge Unsubscribed. The Unsubscribed entry on the left of the Contacts page lists all of them. People who aren’t in your contacts, for example from an Excel file, go on the list directly: open the Don’t email list and add the address, or import a file with many.
A mailing that is sending right now checks the list again right before each email, so a person you mark during the send is skipped from the next email on. History then says they were unsubscribed or put on your “Don’t email” list while the mailing was sending.
Bounces: addresses that don’t exist #
When the receiving server says an address doesn’t exist, the person shows as Not sent in the mailing’s result and as Didn’t send in History, with the reason “The address doesn’t exist or doesn’t accept email.” Their contact’s history shows the same reason after “Not sent:”.
- Right after the mailing, click Add to Don’t email next to the person in the result.
- Later, open the mailing in History with See results and click Add the 3 addresses the server rejected to Don’t email (with your number) to add all of them at once. SheetCourier asks first. Only addresses the server rejected as unknown are included.
Either way the contact shows the badge Bounced.
Some bounces arrive later, as an email in your inbox (“Delivery failed” or “Undeliverable”). Add those addresses to the “Don’t email” list by hand; contacts added that way show the badge Don’t email.
Undo an unsubscribe #
Open the person and click Allow emails again, or tick them on the Contacts page and click Allow emails again in the bar. SheetCourier asks you to confirm: “Only do this if the person asked to get your emails again.”
Deleting a contact never takes them off the “Don’t email” list. If they come back in an Excel file or an import later, they are still skipped.
